Tunari Mountain Hike

This excursion is usually a one day hike that begins at roughly 3,800 meters of elevation and summits the highest mountain in the area, Tunari, at 5,035 meters above sea level for incredible panoramic views from its jagged peaks. The hike is not technically difficult and requires no prior experience. The ascent from the final parking spot takes roughly 3 hours and descent takes about 1.5 hours. Arrival in a vehicle from Cochabamba takes roughly two hours. Tunari, while a relatively easy and accessible hike, can present adverse weather conditions including fierce wind, rain and snow, thus it´s important to pack ample cold weather clothing, lots of water, and snacks.  The group usually leaves Cochabamba at 6AM or 7AM and returns around 4PM to celebrate the hike with some delicious charque, chicha, or other Cochabamba specialties.
